Field and context

Bongkot lies about 180 kilometres offshore Thailand in the Malay Basin. Its hydrocarbons occupy numerous small, intensely faulted Oligocene–Miocene clastic reservoirs rather than one continuous body. Producing intervals are principally deltaic sandstone beds deposited in fluvial, delta-plain and delta-front settings. Development therefore uses numerous closely spaced platform wells feeding two central processing hubs across the large, mature field.
