Field and context

The Malikai field lies about 100 kilometres offshore Sabah in the north-western deep-water province of the South China Sea. Discovered in 2004, it contains two principal oil-bearing reservoir intervals developed through platform-based dry-tree wells. Public descriptions identify deep-water sandstone reservoirs within the structurally complex Sabah margin. The field is a substantial standalone accumulation developed around Malaysia’s first tension-leg production platform.
