Field and context

The Johan Sverdrup oil field lies on the Utsira High in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Discovered in 2010, it produces oil from Upper Jurassic sandstone reservoirs, mainly the Draupne Formation. It is one of the largest oil discoveries on the Norwegian continental shelf and is developed in multiple phases using fixed platforms.
