Field and context

The Snorre field lies in the Tampen area of the northern North Sea at ~300-350-m water depth. Discovered in 1979, it produces oil from Triassic and Lower Jurassic sandstone in the Alke, Lunde and Statfjord formations. The multi-faulted reservoir uses pressure support strategies and is one of Norway's major fields.
