Field and context

The Montrose oil field lies in the Central North Sea within the Forties-Montrose High area. Discovered in 1969, it produces oil from Upper Jurassic sandstone reservoirs, principally the Fulmar Formation. The field was developed using multiple fixed platforms with shared processing and export infrastructure.
